ProductCart 1.5 Adds Advanced eCommerce Features

New version of small business shopping cart software offers more power and flexibility

MISSION VIEJO, CA, August 13, 2002 /For General Release/ -- Early Impact, an ecommerce software development company, announced today the release of a new version of its shopping cart software, ProductCart 1.5. Version 1.5 offers small- and medium-sized businesses sophisticated ecommerce features to build and run a high-level online store, within their budget.

ProductCart 1.5 uniquely combines advanced shopping cart functionality with remarkable ease-of-use. Merchants can easily manage every aspect of their online store using ProductCart’s point-and-click, browser-based Control Panel. Among the new features in version 1.5:

  • Multiple product display settings. Now merchants can fully control the way products & categories are displayed in their online catalogs. For instance, they can instantly switch from displaying items horizontally, with images, to displaying items vertically, without images.
  • Advanced cross-selling. Merchants can now effectively cross sell products on their stores by easily creating relationships between them. General settings such as the option of where and how to present the related products add tremendous flexibility to this new feature.
  • Custom product fields. New and unique to ProductCart is the ability for merchants to add custom input & search fields to a product. Custom input fields let customers enter information when they add an item to their cart (e.g. initials to be embroidered on a polo shirt). Custom search fields let customers use specific product information as a search filter on the store's search page (e.g. a wine store may want to allow customers to search by wine region, year made, or grape type).
  • New order management module. ProductCart now keeps store customers informed of their order status each step along the way by automatically sending an e-mail message when the order is ‘Received’, ‘Confirmed’, 'Shipped’, or ‘Cancelled’. The message text is fully editable by the store administrator. Inventory and sales reports are automatically readjusted when orders are cancelled or returned.
  • New tax module. Now merchants have the option of using a text database to automatically collect taxes in full compliance with tax laws such as those of the state of California, which require merchants to charge taxes based on the customer's local tax rate.
