Early Impact releases Build-to-Order extension to its shopping cart software

MISSION VIEJO, CA, October 16, 2002 /For General Release/ -- Early Impact, an ecommerce software development company, announced today the release of Build-to-Order, which extends the functionality of its ProductCart shopping cart software by allowing merchants to sell configurable products and services online.

Build-to-Order allows small businesses to handle the sale of complex products and services that are configured by the customer during the ordering process. It's the combination of an ecommerce system and a product configurator. For example, PC assemblers can now easily offer their customers the ability to configure, quote, and purchase fully customized computer systems on their Web sites, just like large computer manufacturers do. Until today, such a Web site would have required a large investment of time and money to be developed.

Build-to-Order isn’t just for computer retailers. Catering services, printing services, consulting services, custom furniture shops… The applications are endless. Today’s small business eCommerce software typically does not support the sale of products and services that are defined by the customer during the buying process. ProductCart Build-to-Order fills this gap, allowing businesses to take their business online regardless of the complexity of the products and services that they sell.

• Custom quotes 24x7. Build-to-Order can also transform a Web site into a powerful, 24x7 custom quoting system. Customers have the ability to save the product or service that they have configured to their account so that they may print it, edit it and submit it as an order at any time.

The Build-to-Order extension can be easily added to any on-line store powered by Early Impact’s ProductCart shopping cart software. The software is available for $395 per storefront, and requires a ProductCart license, which is also sold for $395 per storefront.
