ProductCart Build To Order Shopping Cart Released
New version of popular shopping cart software includes product configurator
MISSION VIEJO, CA, October 29, 2002 /For General Release/ -- Early Impact, an ecommerce software development company, announced today the release of ProductCart Build-to-Order, a new version of its popular ProductCart shopping cart software that allows merchants to provide real-time quotes and receive orders for fully customizable products and services.
ProductCart Build-to-Order extends the functionality of the standard version of Early Impact's ProductCart ecommerce software by allowing small businesses to handle the sale of complex products and services that are configured by the customer during the ordering process. For example, PC assemblers can now easily offer their customers the ability to configure, quote, and purchase fully customized computer systems on their Web sites, just like large computer manufacturers do. Until today, such a Web site would have required a major investment of time and money.
ProductCart Build-to-Order certainly isn't just for computer retailers. Catering, printing, consulting services, custom furniture shops… The applications are virtually endless.
The system uniquely combines a shopping cart and a product configurator. Among Build-to-Order’s powerful and completely unique features:
- Quickly setup configurable products & services – A point-&-click interface allows merchants to assign any number of items to a configurable product, organizing them in meaningful categories that are shown to the user as drop-down menus, radio buttons, or check boxes, depending on how they are setup.
- Maintain full control of the customer’s experience – The system gives merchants complete flexibility in defining which options should be available for selection; which options should be required; which options should be exclusive (choose one or the other) and which should not (choose any of the following); how the price should change when different options are selected; and more. In addition, the store administrator has access to a number of display options that dynamically control the way configurable options are presented to the customer.
- Guide new visitors with ‘default’ configurations – Merchants can suggest a default configuration that their customers can choose ‘as is’ or edit as they wish. The product’s price is calculated dynamically and instantly updated based on the merchant’s default selections and the customizations selected by the user.
- Provide custom quotes 24x7 - ProductCart Build-to-Order can transform a Web site into a powerful, 24x7 custom quoting system. Customers have the ability to save the product or service that they have configured to their account so that they may print it, edit it and submit it as an order at any time.
