ProductCart v2.5 Shopping Cart Software Released

With over 100 new ecommerce features and enhancements

MISSION VIEJO, CA, December 5, 2003. /For General Release/ -- Early Impact, an ecommerce software development company, announced today the release of ProductCart v2.5, the latest version of its popular shopping cart software. ProductCart v2.5 contains well over 100 new features and enhacements, including an entirely new graphical interface for the "Control Panel".

With ProductCart v2.5 small businesses now have access to a truly professional ecommerce system, with features that are typically found only in expensive, custom ecommerce Web sites. From batch processing of multiple orders at once, to a sophisticated Newsletter Wizard, ProductCart v2.5 takes small business shopping cart software to a new level of functionality and productivity in online store management.

Among the dozens of new features include in v2.5 of our ecommerce software:

  • Downloadable Products Module - A sophisticated system to allow you to effectively and securely handle the sale of digital products. Download URLs are hidden from the customer and can be set to expire. Dynamically-generated license information can be delivered with any digital product (e.g. a serial number, a license key, a user name & password, etc.). Easily connect the system with your own license generator. Deliver product-specific installation and/or usage instructions with the order confirmation email.
  • New Newsletter Wizard. Collect opt-in subscriptions to your store newsletter, then easily create targeted customer lists to which you can send promotional messages and more. Save previously used messages and customer lists for future use. Test a newsletter before sending it. Send HTML or text messages.
  • Improved Checkout Process. A new checkout progress bar keeps the customer updated. Redesigned shopping cart and order verification pages contain additional information on the order (more pricing information, product subtotals, and more). A link to a printer-friendly version of an order is now shown when an order is placed.
  • Redesigned Control Panel - Completely redesigned navigation system for the Control Panel, using drop-down menus located at the top of the page. The new interface features more real-estate for every page in the Control Panel, which translates into a system that's more pleasing to the eye, and faster to navigate.
  • Edit Orders - Improved Order Management. Now you can fully edit orders after they have been placed. Add comments to an order, change quantity on an ordered product, change unit price, remove a product, add another product to the order, recalculate shipping, etc. As part of a much improved order management module, this feature will allow you to provide your customers with updated, accurate order information as order details are updated automatically in the customer service area.
  • Batch Process Orders. You can now batch process selected pending orders at once. If you are using Authorize.Net or VeriSign PayFlow Pro, you can also at the same time capture previously authorized credit card transactions.
  • Returns - New RMA System. Professionally handle product returns by allowing customers to request a Return Authorization code. Authorize or reject the request, automatically updating the customer's previous order details page.
  • Support for debit cards and other non-credit card payment cards (e.g. store cards, debit cards, etc.). The store administrator will be able to create new custom payment options that include up to 5 custom input text fields. For each text field, the admin will be able to define: text label (e.g. Name on Card), required/not required, length.
  • Improved Import Wizard, which now allows you to import product information directly from Microsoft Excel, without having to generate a CSV file. Among the other new features added to the Import Wizard: (a) ability to import products into multiple categories and update category information when appending data to an existing product database; (b) ability to easily "undo" the last import or update; (c) ability to import additional product information, including all new product fields added to v2.5.
  • Improved Tax Module. Among other things, the shopping cart can now be set to "Display all taxes together" or "Show each tax separately". So if there are 2 tax rules (e.g. Country and Province, like in Canada), they can be displayed separately.
  • Clone Build To Order Configurations (BTO only). You can now easily apply an existing BTO product configuration to a new BTO product. In other words, people will now be able to "clone" a BTO product configuration, thus dramatically reducing the time necessary to create similar build to order products.
  • Short Descriptions. A new short description can be added to products, and it is now used throughout the store to provide more product information as customers browse the catalog. The short product descriptions is also used on the updated product details page to better organize product information, input fields and buttons at the top of the page. An automatic link to link to the long description provides customers with an easy way to obtain more product details when needed. The use of category descriptions has also been improved. The short category description is now displayed before the user gets to the category page, the long description after the user gets to the category page (regardless of whether the category page contains products or subcategories).
  • Multiple Shipping Addresses. Now customers can edit/add multiple shipping addresses to their account. A shipping address from the list of available shipping addresses can be selected during checkout using a drop-down menu.
  • Improved Category Assignment. Now you can easily add a product to multiple categories at once when creating a new product. Of course, there are also several other ways to manage category assignments both for single products and multiple products at once.
  • ... and many more.
