A long time ProductCart user, Azar Displays provides customizable Point Of Purchase displays (and related products) by leveraging the Build To Order version of ProductCart.
In business for over 30 years, Azar Displays produces everything in a 180,000sf facility located in Nanuet, NY. Products include Pegboard Display Systems, Injection molded Trays, and Sign Holders. Additionally, Azar also provides accessories for all slatwall and pegboard displays.
The store has been using ProductCart Since 2003! Overtime, they have applied several customizations to the front-end, and created a real-time integration with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains.
Early Impact's first thoughts... Azar has been in business for over 35 years, knows its product line inside and out, and is very aware of what its customers are looking for. It shows in their online presence too! It's evident in the attention to many small details, from the way the customer service phone numbers are presented at the top of the page, to how product information is delivered (i.e. with plenty of details, lots of images, videos, etc.).
In our view, this storefront very successfully sends the message that - if you are looking for POS displays and accessories - "you've come to the right place!". As an online store manager, there's no better reaction you can trigger in your visitors.
Early Impact's notes: We liked a lot of things about this store's home page. From Live Chat to the prominently displayed 800 number, from the nicely designed jQuery-based slider, to the cool navigation, everything conveys a message of professionalism. Any visitor will immediately have the impression of a company that is serious about its business, keeps up with the latest trends (e.g. YouTube channel), and is ready to help with your purchase (e.g. live support, free catalog, a big inventory, etc.).
Suggestion: The "Cool New Products" slider is below the browser fold and at first we missed it. An idea might be to place a "Cool New Products" graphic next to horizontal graphics at the top ("Order in bulk" and "2,000,000 products..."). They would have to be reduced in horizontal size to house the third graphic.
SEO-related comments: consider reducing the length of the description Meta Tag (currently 2673 characters). The recommended length is around 160 characters. Also consider removing keywords from the Keywords Meta Tag, which currently contains 272 keywords (too many).
Early Impact's notes: Azar has taken time to provide real value through category pages: the screen shot shown above shows video content. Many other category pages contain multimedia or other useful content. That is exactly how category pages should be built: they can't be just a list of products or sub-categories. They are there to deliver useful, in-depth information on that specific category.
We also like the idea of displaying a box that lists the sub-categories within the current category. It provides a useful addition to the navigation.
Overall, very good work on the category pages!
Small suggestion: some of the content is a bit redundant (e.g. left-side "Free Catalog" and "Newsletter" boxes). It should definitely be there and visitors might take advantage of it, but it probably doesn't need to be positioned so prominently. Since the product catalog is quite large, one code snippet that would be easy to introduce and useful for customers would be a "Top Sellers" box that shows top sellers within the category (and sub-categories). That box could be positioned right below the sub-categories box on the left side.
Early Impact's notes: Azar Displays uses ProductCart Build To Order to sell complex products such as this freestanding floor display, which comes with all sorts of options and accessories. The floating price panel shows on the left side of the product configuration area in the screen shot above is a default feature in Build To Order, and can be easily moved and styled using simple CSS. Item-level quantity discounts within a product configuration are also a default feature in product configurator that is part of Build To Order.
Smart idea: Azar is using the category description area of each set of configurable options (also a default feature) to show a large graphic that presents each category of options/accessories with a large, colorful name, and some product images. This helps the customer quickly visualize what that category of options is about. Good idea!
