About our Case Studies: We like taking a closer look at ProductCart-powered stores that particularly attracted our attention. Each case study contains information on how ProductCart was used, notes on who designed and customized the store (when applicable), and some comments by our staff. In this particular case study, we took a look at the use of the ProductCart mobile commerce storefront used by Sigler Music.

One of the top 50 music retailers in the USA, Sigler Music Center provides online shoppers a vast selection of music and sound products, with a "best price" guarantee.

In business since the 50's, Sigler Music Center has been one of the earlier adopters of mobile e-commerce through ProductCart (see section below), and recently reported that around 2% of all orders now come through the company's mobile storefront. This case study will focus in particular on the use of the ProductCart Mobile Commerce Add-on.

Early Impact's first thoughts... Nice, big graphics invite visitors into the store. The catalog includes extensive product information, and many products feature multiple product images and video demonstrations.

The home page advertises the mobile storefront, letting customers know that they can browse the store and make purchases through their smart phones. Musicians are often on the road, so it makes sense to prominently feature the availability of the mobile-optimized storefront.

Early Impact's notes: We liked the big graphics and the simple, well-organized navigation.

Suggestion: Visitors are always looking for good bargains, so we would recommend adding a "On Sale" or "Specials" section under "New Arrivals".

Early Impact's notes: We like the modifications that Sigler Music Center made to the product details page, from the large price and "Add" buttons, to the background colors that separate the "buy" area from the long description (where a tabbed layout is being used).

Mobile Storefront

Early Impact's notes: The mobile commerce storefront performed very well in our tests: the work Sigler Music did setting up its rich product catalog pays off even in the mobile storefront, where multiple product images, for example, are still available and easy to browse (see the 4th screen shot below).

All of the screen shots below were taken on an Android-based phone (HTC Aria). The Sigler Music Center mobile storefront uses the ProductCart Mobile Commerce Add-on "out of the box". Add it to your store for just $195.

On the product details page, multiple product images are easy to access. Items have been added to the shopping cart and we are ready to checkout. PayPal Express Checkout has a great interface for mobile devices, including the ability to checkout with phone number and a PIN.
